Beautiful baby D and her simple newborn photoshoot at my studio near Hadleigh Suffolk
I’ve been photographing this sweet babies cousin for the last couple of years, and it’s always an honour when the family love your photos and other members of the family also start to use you. This little baby was four weeks old when we undertook her newborn shoot and one of the first things her Mummy said was that she was dreading the photoshoot as she didn’t sleep. The bonus is when you’ve been photographing newborns for as long as I have is that you know all the tricks in getting babies off into a sleep, there would be nothing worse than photographing a crying a baby with parents getting stressed out, and we really did get all the shots. Mum did also want frog pose and you can’t always be sure an older baby will go into this position, I put the baby into the position and usually I hold them in place whilst I photograph them, but as she was a heavier baby, Mum followed my instructions on hand placement and then the supporting Mum hands were photoshopped out. Newborn safety is so important. This gallery was finished up in a week from the shoot, and this little baby is just so precious, I love bigger babies and being able to record all those gorgeous rolls and pouty little lips. Something for this family to treasure for generations beautiful portraits to go into their new home.
Frequently asked questions about newborn shoots
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions when photographing newborn babies.
- What if my baby won’t sleep?
- Can siblings be included in the photoshoot?
- Can I choose more images after the session
- Do you offer a payment plan?
I’ve prided myself over the years on providing a service to families of new babies that fit their needs. Photographing a new baby when so many emotions and hormones come into play, it is easy to pull on people’s heartstrings and push people into buying more than they want. But in these uncertain times with fuel prices rising and so much to worry about, I offer transparent clear pricing before I book anyone in, this ensures I am within the budget of the family. Parents then can choose their favourite images with no hidden catches. They won’t need to upgrade to get their most rite image. I capture that image and it’s included in your chosen package. I do offer payment plans which means if you book in when in early pregnancy the shoot can be paid in advance and broken down into smaller amounts. I release your images when the package is fully paid for. I include whatever you want in your package. If you want just five images, and you want a family photo, one with a brother or sister and 3 posed images. That’s just what I do. If the baby isn’t sleepy it usually is just a case of feeding, and snuggling (who doesn’t have time for baby snuggles)? There is always the odd unsettled baby and thankfully with my years of experience handling babies, if I feel the baby is too unsettled I will come out to you to reshoot, however that is a rare occurrence. Babies pick up on calm which is why I pride myself on my patience and having a calm environment for you to come and get those adorable first precious memories of your newborn. If you have a question please do ask me! When parents book in they receive a guide to the session which explains how to get the very best out of your photoshoot.
